Teenager's Poems
1996 to 2003

As these poems were written between 1996 and 2003 by teenagers who are now adults, the surnames have been left off. If you want to reclaim a poem and have your name attached please contact teenmag@irelandcalls.com. We can add your name or remove the poem. Better still, give us a paragraph about yourself to add to your poem.

Opal Shade by Breanna

Into the darkness
beyond what you notice
I stand behind a stone
and glare at what you create
Into your hands
as you justify a mold
and with your fingers sculpt
my face.. and write only upon my lips
your intention
but paste over it an opal shade
for you wish me to hide
while you smile over your other paintings
you do not know that it is translucent
or that I can see the smile you show them..
and as this light flickers
fades and brightens
this shade does not help me
but makes the fury fall
about me
this stone before me
perhaps should I move
beyond the opals sparkle
of your smile as you gaze upon me
out into the light
and forget its warmth
