Teenager's Poems
1996 to 2003

As these poems were written between 1996 and 2003 by teenagers who are now adults, the surnames have been left off. If you want to reclaim a poem and have your name attached please contact teenmag@irelandcalls.com. We can add your name or remove the poem. Better still, give us a paragraph about yourself to add to your poem.

My Best-Friend by Jenny

Love is something you don't
Ever want to lose.
It can be painful, yet joyful,
It makes you have to choose.
Many people come,
Many people go.
But there's always that special someone,
You'll ever remember and know.
He touched your heart
And he changed your life.
Many times you'd even dreamed
That you'd become his wife.
Your marriage would have been many things.
You'd become his lover and be his best friend.
You would start a new family,
And be together 'till the end.
But those are just your dreams,
And your dreams are unreal.
You're not even sure,
If he knows the way you feel.
You hope that someday
You will find in your heart.
The courage to let him know,
That in your life, he is a major part.
Neither of you can fathom it.
You shared your hope, dreams, and fears.
The day when all of those times would die,
In a sorrowful display of tears.
He has helped you to grow up.
He has been your best friend.
And you know that in your heart,
That you will always love him,
Love him until the very end.

I wrote this poem when my best friend, a guy, and I started to drift apart. He and I have known each other for six years and he has been a major influence on my life. I've always had a special place in my heart for him, but I have never had the courage to tell him that. Maybe, this can give someone else in my position the courage to tell that special someone, that they care. Thank You.
