Teenager's Poems
1996 to 2003

As these poems were written between 1996 and 2003 by teenagers who are now adults, the surnames have been left off. If you want to reclaim a poem and have your name attached please contact teenmag@irelandcalls.com. We can add your name or remove the poem. Better still, give us a paragraph about yourself to add to your poem.

My Dream by Ammie

The angels held their wings together
and ascended toward the sky.
I watched from my window, trying to figure out why.
The eight figures with wings seemed engaged in a struggle.
When I saw the figure they were holding, I understood their battle.
With you, I had fought like that before.
Suddenly, I realized we would fight no more.
You soon submitted, and upward you rose.
Forever, in my mind shall I remember your last pose.
I tried to call for you to wait,
But I soon realized I was too late.
Why didn't you call to say goodbye?
Instead, I had to helplessly watch you die.
Now, as the sun goes down,
My eyes are still focused on your little mound.
I sip iced tea, and silently whisper my explicably roaring plea.
I wonder, was it fate, or was I too late?
