Teenager's Poems
1996 to 2003

As these poems were written between 1996 and 2003 by teenagers who are now adults, the surnames have been left off. If you want to reclaim a poem and have your name attached please contact teenmag@irelandcalls.com. We can add your name or remove the poem. Better still, give us a paragraph about yourself to add to your poem.

MY ANGEL by Ammie

As she descended from the sky,
everyone stared in disbelief.
There were no harps or wings.
There were other things.
There was the golden aura of light
Which showed inexplicably bright:
I knew your reason for coming,
But no one else did.
The secret only you and I knew.
Your words of wisdom were very few.
As her voice rang, clear as a bell,
I knew that my Grandmother Angel
would never see hell.
That fiery pit with burning embers,
Would never be lucky enough to have her
angelic eyes feasted on its members.
Easily you passed through the Pearly Gates.
Because you could have no other fate.
I know that sweet Saint Peter
Had a special smile just for her.
By the time this poem comes true,
I can honestly say, "She's smiling down on you".
